Guide to the True Spring Seasonal Color Palette

The True Spring Seasonal Color Palette

In the 12 Seasonal Color System, True Spring (or Warm Spring) is a season dominated by warmth, clarity, and brightness. (Warm and Bright). True Spring falls between Bright Spring (Bright and Warm) and Light Spring (Light and Warm). The palette focuses on colors with high chroma (far from very muted), a range of moderate to lighter values, with an emphasis on the warmer hues (reds, oranges, yellows, and greens).

Overall, the palette is lush, fresh, and teeming with new life like a blooming fields of flowers basking in the sun. True Spring represents the height of the season, devoid of any winter frost and far from the stronger summer sunshine that tends to bleach colors naturally.

True Spring Skin Tones and Hair Colors

True Spring natives possess warm skin with undertones of apricot, peach, honey, gold, and caramel. Their hair is also clearly pigmented with tints of warm gold, hay, red, butterscotch, and warm brown. Overall, True Spring contrast is moderate and the most prominent aspect to their overall coloring is the warmth and golden glow.

Compared to Bright Spring, True Spring is lower in contrast and warmer. True Springs have less crispness than Bright Springs and their beauty looks relatively more gentle. Compared to Light Spring, True Spring is warmer with more moderate value colors emphasized. Light Spring natives even less contrast.

Bright Spring Celebrities

Possible True Spring celebrities include Kelly Reilly, Judy Greer, Vanessa Williams, Jane Krakowski, Deepika Padukone, Nicole Kidman, Leslie Mann, and Mandy Moore. Please note that changes in hair color, brow color, and lighting can have a profound effect on color harmony and perception.

True Spring Neutrals and Colors to Avoid

True Spring neutrals are warm- think creams, light almonds and camels, to deeper caramels and olives. Better for night time or dramatic use, warm greens allow for a bit more darkness, as does a sparing use of warm browns. Warm blues are great neutrals for the True Spring- light yellow blue to deeper navy work well to bring out the brightness of their color palette without adding heaviness.

True Springs can preserve their warm and fresh radiance by avoiding colors that are muted, cool, or overly dark and deep and rich. It is quite easy for True Springs to overwhelm with seemingly similar Autumn colors. Remember, Autumn colors are richer and deeper with a more bronzed overcast. True Spring colors are more akin to mid-day sunshine and are far from heavy or earthy.

True Spring Metals, Stones, and Materials

True Springs look best in shining yellow golds, rose golds, and some very bright coppers. A slight bit of texture (light hammering, light burnishing) can work so long as the warm tone is prioritized. Still, very textured, antiquated, or matte finishes will look too heavy or rough for the True Spring.

Clear and polished gemstones with warmer tones like emerald, pink rubies, red rubies, carnelian, pink tourmaline, and yellow tourmaline will support their color palette beautifully.

When considering materials, True Springs can lean into their golden warmth and clarity by exploring brocades, embroidered prints, warm metallics, brightly dyed organza and tulle, and very shiny silks.

Makeup Looks for True Springs

True Springs look best with a base of dewy skin and highlighter that reflects the light rather than scattering or diffusing it. Soft edged brows and deeper but clearly shaped eyeliner (best placed on the upper lash line as opposed to all around) helps bring out their eyes while honoring their moderate level of contrast. Blush that leans coral or peachy and a similar shaded gloss or sheer lip balm adds extra freshness.

True Springs can create a dramatic look by going for bolder color use- bright tomato red or hot pink lipsticks can handle a slightly matte finish. The eyes can be given a bit more depth and definition with darker shades in the crease and a shimmery color on the lids. Still, the dewy and radiant base is paramount. Blush or peachy contour honors their moderate contrast and prevents the bolder lip from dominating the face.
