Guide to the Light Spring Seasonal Color Palette
The Light Spring Seasonal Color Palette
In the 12 Seasonal Color System, Light Spring is a season dominated by lightness, brightness, and warmth. (Light and Warm). Light Spring falls between True Spring (Warm and Bright) and Light Summer (Light and Cool). The palette focuses on colors with relatively high chroma (far from very muted), a range of lighter values, with an emphasis on the warmer hues (reds, oranges, yellows, corals, pinks, and greens). Light Spring is sometimes referred to as Spring-Summer as it is in between seasons. Due to its proximity to the Summer season, Light Spring can handle some coolness as well.
Overall, the palette is delicate, lighthearted, fresh, and whimsical. I imagine the Palace of Versaille’s ornate and colored walls, the most wispy of spring bouquets, Marie Antoinette’s bedroom, French macarons, matcha lattes, Valentine heart candies, and rows upon rows of fresh gelatos and sorbets.

Light Spring Skin Tones and Hair Colors
Light Spring natives possess neutral to neutral warm skin with undertones of apricot, peach, honey, gold, and light caramel. Their hair is also blessed with tints of gold, hay, red, and light brown. Overall, Light Spring contrast is low and the most prominent aspect to their overall coloring is the lightness and delicate brightness of their overall coloring.
Please note that lightness is different from softness, with the former being higher in light/white values and the latter being lower in chroma or infused with more grey.
Compared to True Spring, Light Spring is lower in contrast and cooler. True Springs have more of a soft fiery glow whilst Light Springs give off a more ethereal kind of light. Compared to Light Summer, Light Spring is warmer with a wider selection of peaches, corals, oranges, and warm greens and pinks.
Light Spring Celebrities
Possible Light Spring celebrities include AnnaSophia Robb, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Cole, Song Hye Kyo, Kiersey Clemons, and Scarlett Johansson. Note that these are just possibilities; confirmation requires a more formal draping process. Please note that changes in hair color, brow color, and lighting can have a profound effect on color harmony and perception.

Light Spring Neutrals and Colors to Avoid
Light Spring neutrals are delicate- think light ivories, soft creams, almonds, peach, and soft taupes. Deeper neutrals include a more limited range of moderately dark grey-browns. Light Springs can enjoy a wide variety of blues to use as neutrals (such as jeans, chambray shirts or dresses, or trousers and outerwear). Neutral to slightly warm blues in light to mostly moderate values can really make their accent colors pop.
Light Springs can preserve their fresh and ethereal glow by avoiding colors that are muted, icy cool, or overly dark and deep and rich.
Light Spring Metals, Stones, and Materials
Light Springs look best in semi-polished soft yellow golds, rose golds, and gentle silvers. A slight bit of texture (light hammering) can work as long as the metal stays free from darker discoloration. Extremely shiny metals can look a bit icy against their delicate coloring.
Matte to semi-polished gemstones like coral, green jade, white jade, purple jade, mother of pearl, and turquoise can match the colors of their palette almost exactly. Overly raw gemstones can look a bit dull or heavy next to their delicacy, and overly prismatic and polished gemstones can look a bit severe and high contrast.
When considering materials, Light Springs can lean into their effervescent beauty with lightweight tulles, organzas, and lightly embroidered brocades and scalloped metallic fabrics. Soft satins work gorgeously as well and provide a whimsical feel.
Natural and Dramatic Makeup Looks for Light Springs
Light Springs look the most natural when they preserve their gentle contrast. Highlighter adds soft dimension. The eyes can be softly defined with a shimmery or even glossy light colored shadow. Gently shaded mascara adds definition without too much contrast. Lips and cheeks are gorgeous when given a flush of color, especially in a dewy or iridescent finish. Avoid overly darkened or overly defined features. Matte contour powder tends to look heavy on them. Instead, use a shimmery blush or light bronzer with blush to add depth.
For a more dramatic makeup look, Light Springs can use the bolder colors in their palette and lean into even more shimmer, iridescence, and gloss. The brows can be softly darkened and a swipe or two of darker mascara adds definition to the eyes without too much heaviness or diffuseness.
