Guide to the Bright Winter Seasonal Color Palette

The Bright Winter Seasonal Color Palette

In the 12 Seasonal Color System, Bright Winter (or Clear Winter) is a season dominated by vivid brightness and clarity, high contrast, and coolness (Bright and Cool). Bright Winter falls between True Winter (Cool and Dark) and Bright Spring (Bright and Warm). The palette focuses on colors with high chroma (far from very muted), a range of light to dark values (with most falling into the darker end of the range for vibrancy) with an emphasis on the cooler hues (blues, blue-greens, purples, reds, and pinks). As this season resides between Winter and Spring, the colors are touched by a bit of sunshine and warmth and are not as icy or stark as True Winter shades.

Overall, the palette is vivid, striking, and brilliant.

Bright Winter Skin Tone and Hair Color

Bright Winter natives can possess neutral to neutral-cool skin with undertones of beige, rose, olive, cocoa, and tan. Their hair is richly pigmented with tints of dark charcoal, rich black, silver, and darkest cocoa. Overall, Bright Winter contrast is very high and the most prominent aspect to their overall coloring is the brightness and vibrancy of their pigmentation. Bright Winters appear to be generously illuminated from within while also reflecting all the light that shines on them. In other words, Bright Winters truly glow.

Compared to True Winter, Bright Winter is clearer and warmer. Bright Winters look less icy or sharp. Compared to Bright Spring, Bright Winter is cooler and just a bit less vibrant (warm colors tend to give off more of a fiery glow than cool colors).

Bright Winter Celebrities

Possible Bright Winter celebrities include Camila Mendes, Megan Fox, Maria Borges, Nicole Scherzinger, Courtney Cox, Awkwafina, Lupita Nyongo, and Jaime Alexander.

Bright Winter Neutrals and Colors to Avoid

Bright Winter neutrals are best kept high contrast and either very light or dark. Icy or egg-shell whites and very light cool taupes and greys offer lighter options. The darker options are more numerous- charcoals, deepest aubergines and greens, many shades of black, and many shades of dark navy. A few slightly moderate value greys can complement the extreme shades of the palette.

Bright Winters can preserve the full impact of their beauty by avoiding very muddled or grey colors and warm colors.

Bright Winter Metals, Stones, and Materials

Bright Winters look best in shining silvers, cold white golds, platinum, chrome, and titanium. Very bright and polished surfaces support their high level of contrast, whereas very textured or matte finishes will look too heavy or rough for their crystalline beauty.

Highly prismatic and polished gemstones with intense and bright tones like aquarmarine, tourmaline, sapphire, amethyst, diamond, and red or pink ruby are beautifully shaded options.

When considering materials, Bright Winters look best in light reflective and prismatic options-look into bright patent leathers, iridescent fabrics, and shiny satins.

Makeup Looks for the Bright Winter

Natural makeup looks for the Bright Winter truly bloom when the skin is treated like a pampered, pristine canvas. Brightening and clarifying treatments are extremely effective in bringing out the naturally vibrant texture of the Bright Winter face. In terms of applying color to the features, clear definition of the eyes and brows with a glossy lip or sheer lip balm and just a touch of sheer blush (no need to contour as that tends to lower the contrast).

For Dramatic makeup looks, Bright Winter beauties can embrace more opacity of color and gloss in finish. Bright and glossy lips, shimmery and heavily lined eyes, bold brows, and finely iridescent highlighter, blush, and eyeshadow can deepen the drama without creating muddled heaviness.
