Exploring Cognitive Types and Style: INFJs and INTJs
Hey everyone, welcome back. I’m excited to present another video in my series exploring the connections between cognitive types and style. Today, we’re focusing on the introverted intuition leads: the INFJs and INTJs. I’m super excited to talk about this because, at some point, many of us believe we are INFJs or aspire to be the mastermind INTJs.
Disclaimer
Before we begin, I want to mention that I use the database from vultology.com. Their typology system is distinct and different from MBTI and Socionics, focusing on physical expressions, mannerisms, and gestures to deduce cognitive functions. This approach ensures a consistent and reliable contributor pool.
INFJ Style: Mystic and Intricate
Jane Goodall
Our first INFJ example is Jane Goodall, the type of the Mystic or the Oracle. INFJs like Jane often have a softly dignified and intricate style. They favor swirling, intricate embroidery that never overpowers them, creating a soft and regal look. Jane often wears softly framed neck and shoulder designs, such as turtlenecks, shawl collars, and mandarin collars, which add a sense of upward momentum and spiritual energy. Her style is a blend of cerebral and spiritual elements, never coldly intellectual but rather mystical and dignified.
Zainab Bangura
Next, we have Zainab Bangura. Whether in Western wear or traditional cultural clothing, she exudes a soft, dignified, and regal energy. Zainab looks great in rich but subdued hues, soft turtlenecks, and stand-up collars. Her style balances simplicity with artisanal intricacy, and even her jewelry is ornate yet not overpowering, often carrying a symbolic or storytelling element. This reflects her role as a peace officer, embodying the mystical and humanitarian energy of INFJs.
Anupam Kundoo
Our final INFJ example is architect Anupam Kundoo. Anupam’s style features a dominance of scarves, tunics, and intricate yet restrained designs. She combines simplicity with ornateness, showcasing cultural symbolism through traditional prints, embroidery, or beadwork. INFJs like Anupam shine in soft, fluid, elegant clothing with a touch of refinement and cultural heritage.
INTJ Style: Practical and Sleek
Judit Polgár
Our first INTJ example is Judit Polgár, the top-ranked female chess player in history. INTJs like Judit favor simplicity, practicality, and neatness in their style. They often wear unbusy clothes that are modular and easy to mix and match. Judit’s wardrobe includes basic pieces of good quality, with a touch of pattern and intricacy but never overly rich or luxurious. This practical approach suits their busy, problem-solving nature.
Oriana Fallaci
Next, we have Oriana Fallaci, an award-winning journalist. Oriana’s style is intricate yet practical, reflecting an intellectual task-oriented lifestyle. She favors simple blazers, sleek turtlenecks, and understated yet elegant outerwear. INTJs like Oriana blend practicality with a hint of intricacy, creating a balance between executive and entrepreneurial looks without being overly professorial.
Katja Hoyer
Our final INTJ example is author and reporter Katja Hoyer. Hoyer’s style is practical, simple, and almost rugged but not rough. She prefers modular wardrobes with t-shirts, blazers, simple pants, and a touch of jewelry. INTJs like Hoyer maintain a utilitarian yet academic look, balancing practicality with a hint of elegance, perfect for an on-the-go lifestyle.
